What is a Team? A Silkfair team is a group of Silkfair users (typically sellers) who work with each other, in a joint effort to achieve certain goals set forth by the team. These goals are typically to promote the team, the individual sellers, their talents, their cause and even Silkfair to others who are unfamiliar with the site. Teams are a great way to increase networking with like-minded sellers and may even be the best way to find suppliers or those who can assist you with selling tips or even other crafting methods with which you may be unfamiliar. Why should I create a team or join a team? If you are the kind of seller who thrives on community outreach and group participation, then joining or creating a team is certainly for you. Sharing tasks, challenges and rewards amongst a group of like-minded sellers/users will help to enrich your Silkfair experience. The more successful your team efforts, the more your stores are visible from within and outside Silkfair.Tips on how to begin:1. Team Theme - Consider what type of team you would like to start (or join, as lists of teams will be posted as soon as they are formed). The sky is the limit – you can create a group that focuses on your craft, your favorite interests, hobbies, a charity or even your geographical location. 2. Invite Members – You may already have members in mind, but if not, invite them to your party. Send them a message informing them of your team and asking if they might be interested in joining. You may also want to post an announcement on your blog and in our forums, introducing yourself and your team to all users. **Remember, if you have friends outside of Silkfair who may want to join, feel free to invite them, as well.3. Team Guidelines – If you are a Team Leader – decide if you have certain criteria that users should meet to join your team. Post these criteria in the forums where your team is listed. If you are joining a team, contact the team leader to ensure that you fit all criteria. 4. List all Teams and Members – Silkfair will maintain a list of teams formed, so that users can refer to the list for inquiries. Please e-mail us at teams@silkfair.com so that we have all of the latest listings of teams, team leaders and members. Additionally, please include any other details such as links or groups so that Silkfair can aid with your promotions and keeping up with your events. **Please ensure to include not only store names and user names so that we members can be easily located, contacted and linked to in the forum. 5. Set Goals – What are the goals of your team? These goals may be primarily based on the type of team formed. For example, if you have created a team based on geographic location, set regular meetings and the purpose of the meetings. Organize regular events. Place ads in local papers. Hold fundraisers to help with costs. The goals should address what it is that you want to accomplish with the creation of the team and what the members will gain from being a part of the team’s activities.6. Consistency – Plan events and keep moving. You may decide to hold an initial “meet and greet” chatting event so that all members can meet each other and toss around ideas. The team leader might want to set up a calendar of scheduled events or efforts so that all can participate. Send us a list of your events and a copy of your calendar, so that we can also help you with promoting your events and scheduling new ones. There may be other teams with which your events coincide so that the impact may be far greater than planned.7. Team Leader Duties – So what exactly is expected of a team leader? A team leader initially invites and corresponds with potential new users. Once they have joined, maintains a list of all team members. The team leader, especially at first, creates and organizes team events, meetings, keeps all members updated and also assigns tasks to other members for assistance. Once the team is started, you may desire to invite another member to help with team leader duties. It may be easier to share responsibilities and have many more events if divided amongst more than once leader. Remember the following tips: ~Keep Silkfair apprised so we can help you along the way.
